99% of human consumption is trash within 6 months. In their lifetime, the average person uses 750 tonnes of soil, 720 tonnes of metals, 5 billion energy units, 100,000 tonnes of fresh water and emits 300 tonnes of greenhouse gas. Resources are becoming scarce and land worldwide are being ruined to obtain them. The answer to resource scarcity is to reuse everything, then to re-use it again. Thanks to technology the ‘circular economy’ is feasible and cost effective.
Together with our partners we conduct advanced material research. Our goal is to reuse the residual waste or recycle materials as much as possible in the supply chain. We investigate the possibilities for sustainable renewable products from these materials. Research is inspired by questions from practice that ask for solutions and hands-on answers.
